The Japanese automaker has already begun tickling the forthcoming model before its entry in India. This is the first time ever that any Japanese company has been seen testing Sedan on Indian Roads. The all-new Toyota Yaris Sedan is also sold in many ASEAN markets and will enter the Indian market with the similar specifications as they were sold in Singapore. Toyota Yaris will come to India with unique specifications including the 4425mm length and 2550mm long wheelbase. Three box features that are similar to that of a larger corolla, states that it’s styling is not radical and will be less polarizing.
On the inside, the car is ergonomically well through-out and the cabin is regular Toyota-simple and functional. The secret image shows ample infotainment screen in the console. As per reviews, Japanese brand says, Yaris has the best-in-class cabin width in few of the markets it is sold in.
It is expected that Yaris sedan is expected to use larger 1.5lt petrol engine with 140NM and 105Bhp on tap. The company could have used D-4D 1.4lt diesel engine that can be borrowed from Liva. However, the motor can be borrowed from Toyota Corolla Altis. This results in a torque and power outputs of 205Nm and 89 Bph and instead of fixed geometry turbocharger, a variable battery turbocharger is used to yield higher outputs. For now, the diesel engine is not a plan due to small capacity that does not meet BS-VI norms. However, at a later stage, a potential for petrol hybrid powertrain is to be introduced.
The petrol engine sedan will set a seven-step CVT and five-step manual transmission. Keeping road conditions in mind ground clearance is expected to bump up. As per the dimensions, Toyota Yaris is smaller than Ciaz and is similar to Hyundai Verna. The price is comparatively lower than many other sedan cars and expecting a good start in terms of sale.
